New Tech show in Bristol

On 12th July  Karen Bourke, Sabine Ray and Christine Earl went to see a Dye sublimation printer in action at the New Tech show in Bristol.  We were very excited to see what could be done with this new process. Not only can it be used for making transfer prints for textiles, but a whole range of other materials. Aluminum, ceramics, glass, plastics, coated plywood.  Dyes are transferred from special printer paper, via a heat press, or for ceramics/glass this can be done in a kiln.

What a great piece of equipment this would be for the college.

The video shows the transfer process on to fabric, through a roller heat press (bit expensive- we would use a  flat bed)  also photos of some other examples, from the show. Karen now has some actual physical examples, including Photographs printed on aluminium. Go and see them in the CRC workshop.
